Dolly Martinez—who appeared on TLC’s My 600-Lb. Life during its 10th season—has died, her sister confirmed. She was 30.
Reality TV fans are grieving over the loss of an inspirational voice.
Dolly Martinez—who appeared on season 10 of My 600-Lb. Life—has died, her sister Lindsey Cooper confirmed. She was 30.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my beautiful sister, Dolly,” Lindsey wrote in an April 11 Facebook post. “Dolly had the brightest personality. She could light up any room with her laughter, her kindness, and her loving spirit. She had a way of making everyone feel special, and her warmth will stay with us forever.”
The reality star’s sister acknowledged how she was finding a semblance of peace amid such a difficult time.
“While our hearts are broken here, I find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with our dad in heaven,” she continued. “I can only imagine the joy of that reunion.”
Lindsey concluded, “Rest peacefully, Dolly. You will always be loved, always be missed, and never forgotten.”
Dolly had appeared on the TLC reality series in 2022 when she was 25. During her time on the series, she spoke openly about her struggles with food addiction.
“Food has caused all of the things I hate about my life,” she said during her episode. “But it’s the only thing I’ve ever had to help me feel good. And I don’t know where to even begin to change that.”
During her appearance on the series, Dolly attempted to qualify for bariatric surgery, losing about 40 lbs. However, she was not approved for the procedure during her time on the show.
After sharing the news of her sister’s passing, Lindsey shut down trolls reacting to her initial post.
“I’m allowed to grieve my sister, Dolly, on here,” Lindsey wrote in an April 12 Facebook post. “I know many people knew her from a show or TikTok, and that’s okay but please remember there’s so much more to her than what was seen online or on TV.”
As she put it, “She was my sister first. She deserves peace and she deserves kindness.”
